I noticed an injured bird on the side of the road. It was just laying there, so my first thought was that it must need a wing or leg wrapped up and definitely needs to go to a wildlife rehabilitator. So I looked in the phone book (because that's how long ago this was) and spoke with one near me.
From her experience, she told me not to assume that it was badly injured. Start by assuming its stunned and can take care of itself after some rest. She told me to protect it while it cant move and to give it a safe space, but to make sure that safe space has an exit. She suggested putting it in a box, with an open flap, and leaving it in the garage with the door open. The "rescued" bird hung out there for over an hour, regained its strength around the yard, and flew away. My life lesson from Nature via injured bird is that life events can be paralyzing. But they don't always permanently injure us! Its important to remember not to automatically put others into an emotional body cast. Instead, try giving them a safe place to rest and see what they can do on their own. Don't forget to provide an exit door! #strength #empowerment

She cares, but not about what you think. She's free. She looks at your personality and your demeanor, not your clothes, and not even your finely polished manors. If you can't do the same for her, she moves on. There is no ego here to bother her. She doesn't spend time meditating on dis-empowering comparisons. She doesn't wonder if she's good enough for you or anyone else because she's free. She won't pressure you to like what she likes. She's not a big fan of sports nor arts and crafts. But she feels very happy to help others and to participate in group efforts with small gestures. If someone doesn't join in her hobbies or even show up, it doesn't upset her. She doesn't seem to wonder what's wrong with her nor what's wrong with others because she's free. She wont judge you for belching the first time you meet or for other unacceptable yet natural human things. She'll likely be entertained and be glad you can be yourself with her. If you can't do the same for her, it doesn't matter because she's free. Most of us work hard to get close to the place in which my daughter dwells. Spiritual growth is about letting go, not people pleasing, not entertaining ego, not gaining more rules and personal laws and fleeting moments of happiness. Its about finding freedom and steady contentment (equanimity) in simply "being". Never would I want to take her freedom away. Life provides its teachers, and my daughter is one of mine. Would you take a closer look at the people you're caring for? How do they teach you? How much more can you value them? <3 In Ocean County, NJ, you may also be interested in Earth's Entourage of Ocean by Earth Intern, an outdoor environmental group for parents and special needs persons ages 14-25. I began my book, Wisdom Stories from the Orphan Tribe, with Broccoli Man's story (at risk of not being taken seriously) to demonstrate how judgment can drive healing wisdom away from us. Broccoli Man just wants you to drop your judgments and empty your cup! Feel up to the challenge? Awesome! While the book includes 13 fireside stories with no translation, you may now enroll in my book club course to learn from all these entities which have been encountered in real shamanic journeys and dreams. Come share, and enjoy some perspective at Earth Intern Online School. Learn to better interpret dreams, and have a little fun in the student discussion areas - for that book-club feel. Hope to hear from you there!
